holy sh*t. Anthropic just unlocked subagent motion design arbitrage in Claude Code: turn Opus 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 into an autonomous video rendering studio put the reasoning model in charge and offload frame synthesis and physics to subagents: claude --model opus --subagents haiku Running programmatic motion design and video rendering on pure Opus 5.5 in a single terminal is guaranteed context suicide: calculating scene timelines, parsing audio waveforms, and tuning spring physics burns 50K tokens before the first frame even renders, completely blocking the primary terminal The hierarchical runtime fixes this completely: Opus 5.5 leads the main session on high effort: storyboards narrative arcs, directs scene timings, and validates final visual output Haiku 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 subagents swarm in parallel at 340 tok/s: parse Whisper audio peaks, calculate Bezier curves, and run headless Revideo and Motion Canvas renders without burning reasoning context The hidden default behavior you need to fix: Claude Code's built-in Explore subagent secretly inherits your main session model. When Opus 5.5 sends Explore to look up shader math or inspect timeline configs, Explore burns full Opus reasoning tokens on simple file greps. Swapping it with a dedicated Haiku 5.5 animation worker intercepts this waste at the root. In empirical benchmarks rendering a 60-second 60 FPS motion piece, Opus 5.5 paired with three Haiku 5.5 subagents compiled the final MP4 master in 1 minute 12 seconds for $0.22. Opus running alone took 4:40 and burned $0.86 from endless render log polling. Opus 5.5 intervenes only at three critical creative gates: → before scene lock: does the composition preserve visual hierarchy and pacing or thrash the viewport with visual noise? → when frame rates drop: are we fixing a WebGL shader bottleneck or compensating with jerky CSS transforms? → before final MP4 export: do animation keyframes align with audio waveform cues and beat drops? Opus 5.5 directs. Haiku 5.5 computes physics. The terminal compiles MP4s Deterministic motion code resolves in seconds. The frontier reasoning engine only wakes up when scene direction needs deep synthesis Direct on high. Animate on medium. Zero tokens wasted on render logs - the Claude Code motion topology: > Opus 5.5 on high directs the composition, structures master timelines, and verifies final exports > Custom Animator subagent on Sonnet 5.5 writes Motion Canvas generators, spring physics, and Bezier paths > Dedicated AudioSync subagent on Haiku 5.5 parses waveform peaks, beat markers, and subtitle timestamps > Isolated RenderWorker compiles Revideo scenes headlessly with zero context pollution paste this setup into Claude Code below: "Set up my Claude Code to match this autonomous motion design runtime: 1. Check claude --version. If it's below 2.1.293, stop and tell me to run claude update, since subagent dispatch needs it. 2. Create three specialized subagents in ~/.claude/agents/: > Animator gets model: sonnet and effort: medium. Grant Read, Edit, Write, and Bash. Role: write TypeScript code for Motion Canvas and Revideo, compute spring physics and Bezier math. > AudioSync gets model: haiku and effort: medium. Grant Read, Grep, and Glob. Role: extract timestamps, parse audio waveform peaks, and align beat cues. > RenderWorker gets model: haiku and effort: medium. Grant Bash. Role: trigger headless ffmpeg builds and frame captures without streaming verbose logs into the primary terminal. 3. In project root, create a dedicated motion CLAUDE.md: enforce 60 FPS standards, color palettes, 1080x1920 viewport dimensions, and deterministic rendering rules 4. In ~/.claude/settings.json, set the main session default model to Opus 5.5 with effort: high. Show configuration diff first. Require confirmation before writing files." ↳
